Wall Mirror. Girondelle. Aesthetic Movement. (England, c. 1885)

Circa c. 1885
Description Wall mirror, Girondelle, with a triple candle sconce. Designed in the Aesthetic manner and much in the style of Christopher Dresser (unattributed). The solid and heavy brass frame supports the original oval bevelled mirror with a circle of convex reflectors. The reverse of the mirror plate is stamped "Birmingham 16 Sept 84" (see image). The candle sconces are removable by a screw thread. The drilled holes in each of the roundals (top and either side of sconce) appear to be original for wall fixing. A removable adaptation has been added recently to allow it to be hung by a hook.

Medium Brass
Signed/Inscribed Unmarked.
Condition Mirror edge has chips partly visible. Four brass screw nuts have been earlier added to support the mirror as has a replacement back. Threads worn on drip pans.
